Our Family Grew By Two Little Feet!

Baby Jaxon Carter Stewart was born on Feb.21, 2010 at 1:26pm. He was 5 lbs 11 ounces and 20 inches long. He came 4 weeks early but is doing great. Here is his birth story:

On Thursday afternoon, I started noticing that I was getting small contractions, and they were fairly regular (every 4 to 6 minutes). They didn't hurt, so I wasn't too concerned, I figured they were just braxton hicks and went on with the next few hours. Well they started to make me uncomfortable, so I went home and laid down and took a bath, they didn't get any better, so I called my Doctor. Dr. Spencer told me to go right to McKay Dee Hospital to be checked just to be sure I wasn't in labor. We had NOTHING ready to go to the hospital and the kids bags weren't packed to go stay with Grandma and Grandpa while we were in the hospital. We threw stuff together and took off. We got to the hospital and they immediatly put me on monitors, I was getting contractions and they checked me and I was dialated to a 2+. They noticed that I was dehydrated, so they said my uterus was irritated and if I got hydrated the contractions would go away. They sent me home... Well, no baby Thursday or Friday or even Saturday. We knew it was going to anytime now since I was dialated and this was not normal for me to dialate on my own.

On Saturday my mom brought the kids to Chucky Cheese and Seth and I went out to the mall and a movie. During the movie I couldn't get comfortable. I felt like crap, I didn't really have contractions that were regular, but I was getting a few of them randomly. We picked up the kids and got home at about 11pm. I got all of our bags packed so when it was time go, we could be ready and just leave and not have to throw stuff together again. I went to bed at 1am and Seth followed at about 2am. When he came into bed at 2am, I woke up to the strongest, biggest, worst feeling contraction EVER! It lasted forever, but then I didn't get another one. Well at 2:33, another big bad ugly one hit. I could barely breathe and coudln't talk, but it was awful. By 3:00am, I was getting them every 3-4 minutes and they were AWFUL!! I couldn't stand it. I had to get out of bed and walk around and that made them feel alittle better. At 3:30 I woke up Seth and told him we had to "GO" I couldn't take it anymore. I wasn't sure if it was real labor or not, but regardless I needed some pain meds LOL! It was so bad. I have never felt a real contraction because i was always induced and had the epideral before the contractions even started. We loaded the kids and the bags. We got to my moms at 4am and she was outside waiting for the boys, she grabbed them and there bags we ran them in the house and gave hugs and kisses and told them we would call them when he was about to come! We arrived at the hospital at 4:30am and they once again set me up on monitors and right away you could see how regular the contractions were The nurse came in and checked me and I was dialated to a 3 almost a 4. She called my doc and he said he would come see if there was any "changes" in a couple hours. I got a shot of morphine and it barely helped, but made me a little more comfortable. We sat and tried ot get some sleep, until the doc came. He came at about 8:00am and checked me and I was a little more dialted and in "real" labor. He said baby was 4 weeks early, but he couldn't send me home like this. They then admitted me to labor and deliver and doc said " Were having a baby today" Yippe, yet nervous b/c he was going to be early. I moved to the L&D room and at 9:00 am the doc came and gave me the epideral and then broke my water. Seth had to hurry to walmart to get extra batteries and memory cards for my camera b/c we forgot them of all things. Well nothing happened while he was gone but at about 11:30 I started feeling bad pain even with the epideral and Seth told the nurse. She said "I'll have the anestiologist come give more meds but he is in surgery right now, so you have to wait, and then I will check you". I told Seth I KNOW I AM READY TO PUSH I CAN FEEL IT. Well we had to wait to push the nurse said until I was "comfortable". Well.. we waited and waited and waited. FInally at about 1:00 the nurse comes in and checks me and sure enough I was dialted to a 10 and ready to push. We were just waiting to get more epideral and for my doctor. They called my doc to let him know and then the ane. doc came and gave me more epideral meds. I pushed 2 1/2 times and our precious little Baby Jaxon was born. Seth cut the cord and then they immedialty put baby on my chest. It was amazing. They cleaned him up while he was on my chest and Seth and I just adored him. Well he was 4 weeks early and his lungs didn't develop all the way, so he had to be taken to the nursery to be evaluated and on oxygen right away. It was sad, but we sort of expected it since Memphis was the same way. Well they gave him oxygen and he still was having problems so they did an xray. They saw that his body didn't develope serofactin and so they had to put him on a ventilator and give him meds to hlep develop the serofactin. They put that in at 7pm and they took it out at 11pm. Once he got the meds he was perfect! He had to be admitted to the NICU unit because of the ventilator, and had to stay one day longer than me just to be watched to make sure he was okay. We brought him home on Wednesday afternoon and we were so happy. On our way home we stopped and picked up the boys at my parents house. We didn't take baby out of the Car, so when the boys got inj the car, it was the first time they had seen him because when they came to visist us, they weren't able to go into the NICU unit to see him. THey just starred at him and were amazed at him.. I will never forget the look on their faces and how happy they were to finally have our baby out of Mommies belly. When we got home, they both held him, kissed him, bugged him and lvoed him. We have been home a week now and they haven't stopped. We all love this little man so much and he has just brought so much more happienes to our family! We didn't knwo we could get any happier, but he sure brought much more!
